Privacy Policy

Last updated 27 August 2026.

This policy explains what ticko collects when you use our site or app, why, and what choices you have. We built ticko for Kenya first, and this policy is written to align with Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019.

What we collect

  • Phone number. This is your account identity — we use it to send a one-time verification code (OTP) instead of a password. We don't require an email address.
  • Name, if you give us one, shown on your tickets and profile.
  • Purchase and wallet activity — orders, tickets, wallet balance and transaction history, and resale listings you create.
  • Payment details are handled directly by our payment processor, Flutterwave — we never see or store your card number or mobile money PIN. We keep a record that a payment happened (amount, status, reference), not the payment instrument itself.
  • Device and app information — which platform (Android, iOS, or web) and app version you used to complete a purchase, so we can trace and fix issues tied to a specific release.
  • Approximate location, only if you choose to share it, to show events near you. We never collect this without your browser or device's own permission prompt, and we don't store a history of your location over time.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell your data to anyone.
  • We don't run third-party advertising trackers on ticko.
  • We don't store your password, because there isn't one — sign-in is phone + OTP only.

Who we share data with

  • Flutterwave, to process payments and payouts.
  • Africa's Talking, to deliver SMS verification codes.
  • Render, our infrastructure host, which stores our database and runs our servers in Frankfurt.
  • The venue or event organizer you buy a ticket from, limited to what they need to honor your ticket (name, ticket status) — never your phone number or payment details.

Cookies

We use one cookie: a secure, HttpOnly session cookie that keeps you signed in. It can't be read by any script running in your browser, and we don't use it or any other cookie for advertising or cross-site tracking.

Your rights

You can ask us what data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and associated data (subject to what we're legally required to keep, like financial records for completed transactions). Reach us at privacy@ticko.live.

Changes

If we make a material change to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
